CAC
GUIDELINES
Drop
Off & Pick
Up
Membership cards must be
presented when dropping off and picking up. To maintain consistency
and out of
fairness to everyone, exceptions cannot be made. If you would like
to authorize individuals other than yourself to pick up your child,
please provide the person's name and your written authorization to
a CAC caretaker.
Parental Responsibilities
Parents must remain in the
Club while their child is in the CAC. However, we ask that parents
limit
their time in the CAC to avoid disrupting the other children. Arriving
a few minutes early allows time for transition and gives our caretakers
a chance to gather any information about the child. We also require
that children wear a clean diaper when dropped off at the CAC. If
parents wish to check on their child, viewing windows are available
or parents may call the CAC at ext. 252.
Separation Anxiety
The staff works with children
through the difficult stage of separation anxiety. If a child is
new
to the CAC, or at the peak of separation anxiety, we recommend scheduling
30-minute appointments, adding 30-minute increments based on the
child's
success. If a child has experienced a difficult time remaining in
the CAC without parents, we encourage a quick drop-off. Our caretakers
will remind the child that, 'Mom or Dad always comes back','as we try
to engage the child in activities. After a few minutes away, we invite
parents to join caretakers as we play, as children respond well when
they see their parent and caregiver interact. After several visits,
most children become assimilated and enjoy the CAC.
Personal Belongings
While we can keep infant car seats, our space does
not allow for the storage of strollers. Strollers may be checked at Coat
Check. Please see Member
Services when Coat Check is closed. With a CAC caretaker's approval,
parents may bring a toy for a child or infant. Please be aware that clothing,
diaper bags and bottles must be labeled. Please bring diapers and a
change of clothing for any child who is not fully toilet trained.
Infants
Parents of infants are asked
to complete an Infant Care Card at the beginning of each
visit. Our caretakers will feed babies at any time throughout their
visit, but we ask that parents prepare food and bottles before leaving
the
CAC. A refrigerator is available and bottles are warmed as instructed.
Please leave breast milk in the bottle from which infants will eat.
Only one parent can be in the
infant room at a time.
Behavior
Disruptive behavior is not
permitted in the CAC. We use 'Time Outs' as a means of removing a child from
a situation that we believe can cause harm to the child or other children.
A caretaker will sit and discuss the behavior with the child before
directing him/her to a new activity. If we are unsuccessful in calming
the child, parents will be asked to remove him/her from the CAC. If
the behavior continues, we will watch the child closely to ensure the
safety of other children. When disruptive behavior becomes a pattern,
we will schedule the child during less busy times in order to provide
a smaller group and more one-on-one attention.
Sick Children
A sick child,
who we believe may infect others, is not permitted in the CAC. If a child appears
to be sick, we will ask parents to remove the child, as it is our responsibility
to protect all children. If a child has an allergy or other restriction,
please remind a caretaker upon each visit.
We cannot accept the responsibility
of administrating medication to a child.
Guests
A member may arrange a guest
visit, up to two days in advance, for a fee of $8 per hour. Guests
under the age of five are limited to the use of the Children's Activity
Center anytime on weekdays or between noon and 5 p.m. on weekends.
Safety
Visitors,
including relatives and friends of members, are not permitted in
the CAC. Unauthorized adults
may not remove children from the CAC. There are no exceptions to
this rule.
